Led by His lordship, Rt. Rev.

St. Joseph’s Junior seminary Mwingi to celebrate the year of the priests. The
theme for the day and especially Mass being VOCATIONS and at the same time to celebrate the year of the priests.
In preparation of the event an established
committee was in place to see all the planned activities takes place.
On behalf of the committee Rev. Fr. Julius
Maingi the chairman thanked everybody and in his own view expressed the beauty of priesthood and he challenged the students to be good model of the society and maintain the figu
re
of the school.
The day began by a holy mass
led by the Bishop, in his homily he challenged the students by telling them
that they are the future of the church in kitui. He also urged the students to
be grateful for the services offered to them by the priests.
His lordship also urged the
students to work hard because God needs sharp objects and requested the

The day was marked with
colourful event of games, whereby the priests had the opportunity to play with
the students from St. Joseph’s Seminary and also presentation of gifts to the
school and at the same time planting of trees.
The priests have been doing a
lot in celebrating the year of the priests for example by celebrating the year
in every parish and saying mass to the parishes which don’t have any priest who
is born from that parish.
Also the priests have gone to
Uganda (Namugongo) for prayers. This has helped them
to strengthen and nourish their faith and know that the community is in need of them.
The climax of the year of the priests will be on 19th June when we will be having the ordination of two deacons to
priesthood at our Lady of Africa Cathedral.
