The Catholic Women Association  has 3560 registered members spread all over the 24 diocesan parishes, as mobilization for more membership goes on.

The main objective of this programme is to help the Catholic Women grow and remain strong in faith.  Every year we have three fullboard meetings for the leaders whose representative are three leaders from every parish.  In these meetings members give reports on the happenings of their particular parishes and ideas advices are shared in order to encourage and affirm each other.

The members always have one full recollection day whereby they are able to pray and share the word of God.

Those meetings are held in different parishes to enable the leaders to meet other members of  CWA.  During these meetings members available share their activities and plan for the way forward.

Last year members realized that some parishes are not represented and agreed enormously for a partnership within the Diocese.  The parishes which are not strong with CWA partner with those seem to be strong, inorder to encourage them in their CWA guidelines and activities.

St. Monica

CWA members are encouraged to follow the footsteps of St. Monica who persevered in her Christianity faith inspite of the difficulties she faced in her Christian living.  At present we have 2062 registered members who have joined this devotion and have taken St. Monica as their Catholic faith

Saving and Credit

The Catholic Diocese of Kitui saving and credit programme (locally known as Ithethye Utethwe credit union) is in 22 parishes of the  Catholic Dicoese of Kitui.  It is a parish based programme and is only for Catholic Women only.  Currently it has 3250 members in the whole Diocese.   The operations of Itethye Utethwe are managed by the women and the father-in-charge ta the parish level.  The management committees at the parish level are composed of three women from each station .  Loan facilities to members by the programme are inexcess of  over 15 million Kenya shillings (over $202,000) each year.

In conclusion the CWA are willing to keep sharing  faith by embracing fully all the church activities and service to the family and the country as a whole.
