THERAPEUTIC FEEDING:
For the last 6 years, Kitui, Mwingi and Mutomo districts have been faced with acute shortage of food and clean drinking water due to persistently recurring drought.
Districts’ drought monitoring offices in Kitui and Mwingi indicate a fast declining trend for local community in to support itself due to unreliable rain.
Of grave concern in Kitui and Mwingi, has been the most vulnerable groups including PLWHAs, Under fives, pregnant and lactating mums, the elderly, together with physically challenged persons.
Diocese has worked hand in hand, together with partners, including the Archdiocese of St. Paul/ Minneapolis, CRS, CAFOD, among others in order to protect their health of these vulnerable groups especially in malnutrition and ARV intake.
Such therapeutic feeding programme has been going on through HIV programme within the therapy groups for the persons infected/ affected by HIV/ AIDS, which are spread all over the diocese.
This therapeutic feeding includes provision of special dietary foods, as well as correcting severe malnutrition among patients attending health facilities.
Still this group requires support since the danger to their health due to lack of proper feeding has not been eliminated.
