Kitui Diocese

  • Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me." John 14:6

  • Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

  • Official opening of St. Joseph Mukasa building at St. Augustine's Secretariat

  • Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is true worship.

  • Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.(Ecclesiastes 11:9)

  • Rev. Fr. Francis Minoque may you live longer!

  • “We need to pray for them, show them how much they are appreciated. Without priests we have no sacraments, no reconciliation, no Eucharist, no Mass. So it’s critical for us as laity to show love and support for our priests.”

  • We begin to see, therefore, the importance of selecting our environment with the greatest of care, because environment is the mental feeding ground out of which the food that goes into our minds is extracted

  • One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. -Psalm 27:4

  • Palm Sunday branches. Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphal entrance of Christ into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1-9), when palm branches were placed in His path, before His arrest on Holy Thursday and His Crucifixion on Good Friday.

  • Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

  • Bishop Muheria ready to bless crucifix which were given to each deanery to commence the year of faith. Jesus answered them, “I assure you: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you tell this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done. (Matthew 21:21)

  • The youngest priests in the diocese; Frs. Patrick Musili, Patrick Mwavu, Jefferson Mutinda, Edward Mutia, John Syengo and Jacob Mbiti

  • “We long to hear your voices echoing the call of the one Shepherd you represent so tangibly for us. We need to hear your voices clearly and we need to hear them now... You are the most important people in the Church today.”

  • We communicate joy to other people through our shining, happy, smiling faces and blithe spirits and bright glow of our personalities because of the Spirit of the Lord, because He's our personality and that's what wins the World to us!

  • When you hear God's voice, harden not your heart!

  • We lost one students supported by Dalkey programme, who was in Matinyani boys form three in January this year due to malaria and anemia. Last year on 1st November, we lost a boy from St Josephs? Seminary in Mwingi due to chest problems. The following day i.e. 2nd November 2012, we again lost another boy from Nuu secondary school due to Malaria. This was a sad loss for the programme, but we believe it was God?s will.
  • One of the Chello supported students from Kiio secondary school form three has been very sick and in and out of Coptic hospital since 30th January 2012. She was in ICU for three days in February. She improved and was transferred back to the ward on 17th February. She is now at home after discharge from Kenyatta hospital on 5th April 2012. She is gaining strength and we hope she will be okey the soonest possible.
  • We have few students being involved in indispline issues in schools, mostly the male students. This year alone, three cases have been reported. We are dealing with this together with the teachers in the respective schools.
  • We also have teenage pregnancies among our sponsored girls. For the last three years, we have five girls who had to discontinue their studies to go and nurse their pregnancies and later babies. By the time they go back to school, they are behind by at least a year and have a child at home to worry about. This is quite worrying. A lot of counseling needs to be done these students.
  • For the Chello Foundation which is our Major sponsorship project, we were not allowed to have new intake this year. For that reason a there are many children desperately requesting for support which we were not able to offer. We are still looking forward for a positive response before the end of the year.

Most of the first beneficiaries of the sponsorship projects are not in touch with the office and we are not aware of what they may be doing. A few are in university and colleges. Some of the girls got married and we have some who went through training and are now working. The friends of kitui had majority of children from Mutomo, Ikutha, Ikanga, Boma, Mulutu and Muthale for the last six years and they are now getting less and less as the programme is facing out.

The last intake of January  2011 was done in the northern deanery as per the request from the partner.

Children on child rights project are not included in the list below as the project is specifically in Mulutu parish only.

Chello foundation

Educational monitoring

  • 78 schools with a total of 263 students/pupils, which is 95.29% of the total number of the students
  • We are in process of forming alumni group for the old students.

  • 85 home visits were done in term two (30.8%)
  • Total home visits so far are 186 (67.39).

Income generating projects

  • In total the project has given family support in terms of local goats to 67 families, a total of 160 goats.
  • From the first kid, we gave out to five more families, each receiving tow goats making a total of 65 famile and 170 goats.
  • the goats had multplied to a total of 215 goats by August 2012
  • 24 goats have been sold to pay school fees, pay hospital bills and other basic family needs for the siblings and care givers.
  • 25 goats died due to diseases.
  • Agreement was that the first off spring be given back to the project.

Strategic plan.

  • The overall plan is good. Most of what they came up with are the things we can implement. however there are few things we need to do differently
  • the number of schools we are working with needs to be reduced. we seem to have the biggest mumber of schools compared to the other organization by 46.5% (93 against 200) This is a big percentage bearing in mind that we are one organization against forteen organizations. there is need to identify the few schools we will be working with.
  • The plan requires us to include child protection activities in the programme so as to ensure that their rights are safeguarded. We would liketo know which activities and methodology. Creation of awareness, trainings etc.
  • They have also said that they will directly manage the students in tertially trainings and also work directly with secondary and primary schools.
