We will be having our annual Diocesan YCS Mass on the 22nd day of June, 2013. We welcome all to participate and make the day a success. The function will take place at St. Michael's Kitui School for the Deaf, the principal celebrant being our beloved bishop Rt. Rev. Bishop Anthony Mùheriahe young are called; the elderly are called. There is no retirement from the Christian pilgrimage. …... Women are called and men are called….. God 'has no favourites' …. We are all called no matter what our occupations may be. There is no special status in the Kingdom for those in 'top jobs' or 'important responsibilities'.

Catechetical programe

This programme is the heart of the Pastoral Office. It?s meant to teach faith and doctrines of the church, as well as to prepare the faithful for Sacramental life. Catechists have a central role in this and in helping the priests in evangelization work.

Formation of catechists is done at Bikira Maria Catechetical training centre ? Mbitini in the neighbouring diocese of Machakos. This year we were able to sent Five catechists to the same institution.  However as a way of cutting costs and increasing the number of trained volunteers catechchists in the diocese, a new in service training programme has been developed in the pastoral programme whereby up to now 225 volunteer catechists have been trained. The training takes duration of 9 weeks (three phases), in April, August and December. Upon successful completion of the training, the graduates are issued with certificates.

The programme is supported by our friends of Kitui, Nairobi group. This is a group of professionals from our Diocese who work in Nairobi, who have come together under the umbrella of Friends of Kitui to prop up our pastoral ministry.

This programme is facilitated by competent priests and trained catechists. This programme targets catechists from all over the diocese, with parish ? based training programmes being conducted on the request of a particular parish.
